1. Joe Thompson, by nature, is a compassionate man. He is loving, caring and generous at heart. He is quite a strong man. On the other hand, he is quite intelligent and he had the brains as to how he could convince his wife into doing things.
2. Maggie proved to be an angel in disguise for the Thompsons as they were a childless couple and Mrs Thompson had become an ill tempered woman but Maggie filled her life with happiness and brought a change in her nature with her sweetness and innocence.
3. An Angel in Disguise, with its strong vocabulary, complex sentences, realistic setting and vivid point of views stresses on the importance of love and care in one’s life; how love drives out even the darkest and deepest bitterness out of a person. It’s written in third person from an unknown narrator’s perspective.
Though the story starts with a negative and gloomy scene, towards the end Maggie’s innocence, Joe’s kindness and Mrs. Thompson’s love is indeed quite joyous!
