Answer:

i) Electric motor is a device that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy. Parts of a Electric Motor. Insulated Copper wire: A rectangular coil of wire ABCD. Magnet Poles: A magnet as placed above ie North Pole and South Pole. This creates a magnetic field as shown above.

ii) An electric motor utilizes the magnetic effect of current. It works on the principle that when a rectangular coil is placed in a magnetic field and current is passed through it, a force acts on the coil which rotates it continuously.

iii) Electric motor designs can vary quite a lot, though in general they have three main parts: a rotor, a stator and a commutator. These three parts use the attractive and repulsive forces of electromagnetism, causing the motor to spin continually as long as it receives a steady flow of electric current.

iv) The applications of electrical motor mainly include blowers, fans, machine tools, pumps, turbines, power tools, alternators, compressors, rolling mills, ships, movers, paper mills.

The electric motor is an essential device in different applications like HVAC- heating ventilating & cooling equipment, home appliances, and motor vehicles.

Answer:

HERE IS YOUR ANSWER:

1)ELECTRICMOTOR IS A MACHINE WHICH CONVERTS THE ELECTRICAL ENERGY INTO MECHANICAL ENERGY.

2)ELECTRICMOTOR IS BASED ON THE PRINCIPLE OF CONVERTING ELECTRIC ENERGY INTO MECHANICAL ENERGY.

WHEN A CURRENT COIL IS PLACED IN A MAGNETIC FIELD IT EXPERIENCES A FORCE.AS A RESULT THE COIL ROTATES DUE TO THIS FORCE.

3)COIL(ARMATURE)-THE COIL ABCD CONSIST OF NUMBER OF TURNS OF AN INSULATED COPPER WIRE.

MAGNETIC FIELD-THE MAGNETIC FIELD IS PROVIDED BY A PERMANENT MAGNET NORTH AND SOUTH.

SPLIT RING- THESE ARE TWO HALVES OF THE SAME METALLIC RING WHICH IS INSULATED FROM INSIDE BUT CONDUCTS THROUGH THE OUTER SURFACE.THE SPLIT RINGS ARE MARKED AS P AND Q.

BRUSHES OR SLIDING CONTACTS- THESE ARE TWO FLEXIBLE CONDUCTING BRUSHES X AND Y WHICH MAINTAIN THE FLOW OF CURRENT.

BATTERY-A BATTERY OR A POWER SUPPLY IS CONNECTED TO ENSURE THE FLOW OF CURRENT IN THE COIL.

WORKING-WHEN THE KEY IS PLUGGED IN CURRENT STARTS FLOWING FROM THE BRUSH X TO THE SPLIT RING P, THROUGH THE COIL ABCD THEN TO THE SPLIT RING Q AND FROM BRUSH Y TO THE BATTERY.

USING THE FLEMING'S LEFT HAND RULE WE FIND THAT BRANCH AB IS PUSHED INWARDS WHEREAS BRANCH CD IS PUSHED OUTWARDS.

4)ELECTRICMOTOR IS USED IN VEHICLES, VACUUM CLEANER,DISHWASHER,COMPUTER PRINTERS.
