since, it is a equilateral triangle, all altitudes are equal.

area of triangle=1/2×base×height
=[s×(s-a)×(s-b)×(s-c)]^1/2
=[s×(s-a)^3]^1/2 all sides are equal

therefore,[s×(s-2a)^3]^1/2=1/2×2a×height
=>s×(s-2a)^3=(a×altitude)^2
=>3a×(3a-2a)^3=a^2×altitude^2
=>(3a×a^3)/a^2=altitude^2
=>(3a^2)^1/2=altitude
=>altitude=a-_/3
