Answer:

14. (a)

15. Human Resources: Human resources refers to the number and abilities of the people. People can make the best use of nature to create more resources when they have the knowledge, skill and the technology. People are human resources. Improving the quality of people's skills so that they are able to create more resources is known as Human resource development.

16. Renewable Resources: Solar energy, water (hydro) energy, wind energy and to some extent, plants and shrubs.

While it is true that renewable energy resources are available in plenty and can be used repeatedly. However, its overuse can have some negative effects. In case of plants and vegetables, as the growth will increase to meet the increasing demand, it will have adverse impact on the underground water table and mineral content. This might lead to delay in growth of plants and vegetables. Secondly, while solar energy and wind energy is available in abundance, the stock of hydro energy is being affected by over use. This is because with the change in climate, rains are becoming lesser especially in tropical regions. This leads to decrease in the water levels of rivers which affect the production of hydro energy.

17.On the basis of the status of development, resources are classified into four groups, namely potential, developed, stock and reserve.

(i) Potential Resources : Potential resources are those which are found in a region, but have not been utilised. For example, solar energy and wind energy, available in Rajasthan and Gujarat, have not been developed properly.

(ii) Developed Resources : Developed resources are those which are estimated in terms of their quantity and quality for utilisation, e.g., water, soil, forests.

(iii) Stock Resources : Materials in the environment which have the potential to satisfy human needs but are not technologically accessible to human beings, e.g., use of water as a rich source of energy.

(iv) Reserve Resources : Reserve is a part of stock which can be put to use in the near future with the help of existing technology, e.g., water in dams, forests.

18.Stock resources are resources that can be enduringly expended, and are therefore non-renewable. Their quantity is usually expressed in absolute amounts rather than in rates. Examples are coal and petroleum deposits

19.The diversity of life on the Earth is conserved. The damage to natural environment system is minimized.

20. Due to the rotation of the Earth, there is a general flow of air from the west towards the east. This is caused by the Sun warming the air as a new day dawns ta that location.

Some of the energy contained in this moving air may be captured by various windmills and the like. There are a wide variety of technologies for this capture.

In modern times, the common method is to convert the wind energy to electrical power. But there are still many wind driven transport applications.

21.Time: Time is an important factor in making a substance resource. Resources are developed the people according to the needs of Technology

technology: Unless the use of a substance is determined by inventions and innovations by the means of Technology.

22. ABIOTIC factors refer to non-living physical and chemical elements in the ecosystem. Abiotic resources are usually obtained from the lithosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere. Examples of abiotic factors are water, air, soil, sunlight, and minerals. Biotic factors are living or once-living organisms in the ecosystem

Natural resources are materials from the Earth that are used to support life and meet people's needs. Any natural substance that humans use can be considered a natural resource. Oil, coal, natural gas, metals, stone and sand are natural resources. Other natural resources are air, sunlight, soil and water.
