Answer:

The unknown side is 10 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

HERE,

  1. 6 cm is the radius of the circle given.
  2. Line PT is the tangent to the circle, PT = 8 cm
  3. Δ PTC is a right angled triangle

As, Radius subtends an angle of 90° at tangent.

∴ => ∠CTP = 90°

In ΔPTC :-

  • PC = Hypotenuse (H)
  • CT = Perpendicular (P) = 6 cm
  • PT = Base (B) = 8 cm

By Pythagoras Theorem :-

=> H²= P² + B²

=> H² = 6² + 8²

=> H² = 36 + 64

=> H² = 100

=> H = 10 cm

The unknown side being PC is 10 cm.

Hope this helps !
