We can see that the
area of the shaded portion = area of the square- the area of the four quadrants.

Area of square= side*side

side of square = 7 cm

Area of square= 7*7= 49 cm^2

Area of quadrant = (1/4)* π * (R)^2

Radius of circle = (1/2)* side of square
= (1/2)*7 = 3.5cm

Area of quadrant = (1/4)*π(3.5)^2 = 9.62 cm^2

There Are 4 quadrants,
Total area of quadrants= 4*9.62= 38.5 cm^2


Area of shaded portion = 49-38.5= 10.5 cm^2
