2) “I sit beside the fire and think
Of all that I have seen
Of meadow flowers and butterflies
In summers that have been
Of yellow leaves and gossamer
In autumns that there were
With morning mist and silver sun
And wind upon my hair
I sit beside the fire and think
Of how the world will be
When winter comes without a spring
That I shall ever see
For still there are so many things
That I have never seen
In every wood in every spring
There is a different green
I sit beside the fire and think
Of people long ago
And people that will see a world
That I shall never know
But all the while I sit and think
Of times there were before
I listen for returning feet
And voices at the door”

The poet carries on his meditation on life and death. He's sitting down and worrying about everything that he didn't see or do. He is also very concerned about the natural environment and labels his lost opportunities by "green" spaces that are unwitnessed.
Before he can progress any further into sadness his attention is drawn to the present. He notes that the sounds of footsteps returning to his door. These are his friends and family members, whom he would rather enjoy while then being able to mourn for something that he can not change.

5)‘I Sit and Think’ by J.R.R. Tolkien is a two stanza poem which is separated into sets of six lines, or sestets. The lines follow a constant and structured rhyme scheme that conforms to a pattern of aabbccdd. A reader will notice that while not all the rhymes are repeated in the second stanza, the first couplet rhymes with the first couplet of the preceding stanza. Tolkien chose this pattern of rhyme in an effort to unify his text.

It is obvious to the reader, even without foreknowledge of Wordsworth, that this is where the speaker feels most at home. As he sits taking in the beauty of nature in spring, he hears a birdsong that he considers to be the most beautiful harmony imaginable.
