1.

Speed:

  • Distance covered in per unit time is called speed.
  • Speed is a scalar quantity
  • It can never be zero

Velocity:

  • Displacement produced in per unit time is called velocity
  • Velocity is a vector quantity
  • It can be zero

2.

a) As the girl returns to the initial position and the displacement becomes 0, average velocity is 0

b) If the girl stops halfway then the displacement becomes equal to the diameter of the circle

displacement = 10m

So,

Average velocity=

 \frac{displacment}{time}

 =  \frac{10}{400}

 = 0.025m/s
