Sources of history are the original sources that contain important historical information.

The two sources of history are-

1) primary sources- A primary source is something that originates from the past. It can be a chronicle, a piece of poetry, or even a piece of glacial ice that gives us climate data about the levels of atmospheric carbon 1000 years ago. Some examples are archives and manuscript material, photographs, audios, films, journals etc.

2) Secondary sources- A secondary source interprets and analysis primary sources. These are generally scholarly books and articles. These sources are one or more steps removes from the event. Some examples are pictures, quotes, graphics, textbooks, magazines, book reviews etc.
