(i) Forests are necessary for the purification of air and maintaining the Oxygen level in air. They are called the green lungs because without trees or forests it would be difficult for us to breathe fresh and pure air.

(ii)Forests are mainly destructed for the wood we humans need. Due to globalisation and increasing construction the demand for wood is increasing and we meet that jeed by deforestation. Checking up on the construction and by reducing deforestation we can check upon the destruction of forests.

(iii) Firstly, by reducing and reusing the plastic bags and bottles we buy or take in use.

Secondly, Incineration is a method in which the waste material is burned and the heat generated is then used as energy.

Thirdly, by recycling the waste generated.

(iv) Rainwater Harvesting is a very popular method nowadays and govt. has made it necessary to implement it in the new residential constructions because: It helps in increasing the ground water level, the water stored can be used in several ways so, it also saves water and reduces water wastage.

(v) River water gets polluted due to to various reasons:

● waste disposal by industries in river,

● washing clothes on the river bank and leaving the detergant waste in river water,

● throwing plastic wastes,

● residues of fertilisers and pesticides from fields.
