a) Two ropes of 12m and 16m long are to be cut down into small pieces of equal length . What will be the maximum length of each piece??

Answer = take the HCF of the length of the 2 rope's = HCF of 12- 2×2×3

HCF of 16- 2×2×2×2.

so now the common factors of 12,16 are 2

so the HCF of 12,16 is 2 × 2 = 4

• now the maximum length of each piece = 4m

b) Three bells ring at intervals of 15 , 30 , 30 minutes If they ring together at 11 am . what time will they next ring together??

Answer = first bell rings at the time of - 15 min

second bell rings at the time of - 30 min

3rd bell rings at the time of = 30 min

total time taken - 15min+30min+30min = 1hr 15 min

if they ring together at 11am at what time they will ring next?? - 60+60+15 = 12 : 15

the next bell rings at - 12:15 pm

c) Find the greatest number that can exactly divide 147,161,210.

answer - to find the greatest number that can divide these numbers-

• take out the HCF of these numbers and it is 7

•147÷7 = 21

•161÷7 = 23

•210÷7 = 30

I think the number is 7

d) A chef has two recipes. In his recipe A he requires 105 ml of oil and in his recipe B he requires 135 ml of oil. What is the largest measure he can use for both the recipe??
