2) Ernest was a little boy who lived with his Mother in a valley. His interest grew in the Great Stone Face which smiled on him. His Mother told him the prophecy about that Face. The boy never forgot that story.

3)The Great Stone Face was the work of nature. The rocks were put one over the other on the mountain side. They resembled the features of a human face

4)The poet felt that Earnest’s life and disposition were a nobler strain of poetry than he had written. The poet found immense similarities between the hazy white clouds around the Great Stone Face and the white hair around the brows of Earnest. All this made the poet proclaim that Earnest himself was the Stone Face.

5)The wise thoughts of Ernest made him different from others in the valley. Ernest was well-known in his valley and had become famous even beyond the valley. College professors and even the active men of cities came from far to see and converse with him.

6)The forest pool was very clean and cold and inviting, whereas the one in the Rajputana desert was known to be sticky and muddy where buffaloes wallowed and women washed clothes in the pool.

7)Now that they are at the pool, they don’t continue the fight because there is a bond of love and friendship between them so they forget their enmity.
