for the frist ball,the velocity earned after 2 sec is=9.8×2=19.6 m/s^2

and the distance passed is:

1/2 ×9.8×2^2=19.6 mitre

so the distance have to pass is 122.5-19.6=102.9m

so, the time required to pass remaining distance :

s=ut+1/2at^2

102.9=19.6t+1/2×9.8t^2

⇨t=3 s

Now the 2nd ball needs to pass 122.5 m in 3 sec.

so,122.5=u×3+1/2×9.8×3^2

⇨u=26.1 (answer)
