When a light ray is thrown on any surface, it reflects a certain amount of light back at the same angle of the incidence ray. The amount of reflected light depends on the texture of the surface. Smoother the surface, more the amount of reflected light. Reflection is of two types. Regular reflection when all the reflected rays are parallel to eachother. Diffused reflection - when the reflected rays are not parallel to eachother.
