1)when he entered in class he got surprised because there was silent and calmness because his teacher M. Hamel was leaving the school.

2)In the story, the French districts of Alsace and Lorraine had passed into Prussian hands. Hence, they received an order from Berlin that only German was to be taught in the schools of Alsace and Lorraine. It was then that all of them realized the value of their language.

3)Yes, there were changes in the teachers attitude that day. The changes where on that day he was very silent and polite to the students and he did not scold to anyone he was very nervous.

5)He felt as if his bodily parts were being pierced. After the last lesson, the teacher dismissed the school with a writing on the black board.
