1) When mangalyaan went behind mars there was loss of radio signal(blackout) and the satellite went into hibernation mode. It was supposed to come out of eclipse mode in 24 minutes.
2) the scientests were nervous because tehyy would not know what happened to the satellite for 24 minutes. Either the mars orbit insertion would be sucessfull or the satellite would be lost to space.
