Answer:

12.38 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

(i) Area of circle:

∴ radius = d/2 = 4.5/2 = 2.25

Area of circle = πr²

                      = (22/7) * (2.25)²

                      = 15.91 cm²

(ii) Area of smaller semicircle:

∴ radius = (4.5 - 3) = 1.5 cm

= πr²/2

= (22/7) * (1/5)²/(2)

= 49.5/14

= 3.53 cm²

(iii) Area of larger semicircle:

∴ radius r = 4.5 cm.

= πR²/2

= (22/7) * (4.5)²/(2)

= 31.82 cm²

Area of shaded region:

∴ Area of larger semicircle - Area of circle - 2(Area of smaller semicircle) + Area of smaller semicircle

= 31.82 - 15.91 - 2(3.53) + 3.53

= 15.91 - 7.06 + 3.53

= 12.38 cm²

Therefore, Area of shaded region = 12.38 cm²

Hope it helps!
