Step-by-step explanation:

2x+1=0

x= -1/2

if we get 0 on substituting x= -1/2 in polynomial then 2x+1 is a factor

f(x)= 4(-1/8)+4(1/4)+1/2-1

f(x)= 0

so 2x+1 is a factor of the polynomial
