Macro nutrients :-The nutrients which required by plant in large amount is considered to be macro nutrients. They take part in synthesis of organic molecules and development of osmotic potential.

1)Concentration of each macro nutrients in plants is more than 1mg /gm of dry matter.
2)They take part in building plant body and different protoplasmic structures.
3)They have no significant role in enzyme activities and electron transport.
ex:- N, P, K, Ca, Mg , and S.
Out of 13 essential nutrients 6 belong to Macro nutrients.

They are present in plants in easily detectable quantities , more than 1ppm of plant body(1mg per gm).So, it is known as macro nutrients.
