wkt,s=ut=1/2at^2........FROM-EQUATION OF MOTION
From origin to surface of water;
u=0
a=g
s=h
t=?
Then, h=0+1/2gt^2
=>t=(2h/g)^1/2............(I)
From surface of water to our ears;
speed of sound (given)=v
displacement=h
time taken =t1(let)
So velocity of sound=displacement/time taken
i.e; v=h/t1
=>t1=h/v..............(II)
So total time=t+t1
=(2h/g)^1/2 +h/v

Time taken for stone to fall into the well is
S = ut + 0.5at²
h = 0 + 0.5gt₁²
t₁ = √(2h / g)

Time taken for sound to travel height (h) is
t₂ = Distance × Speed
t₂ = hv

Total time taken to hear the splash = t₁ + t₂
= √(2h / g) + hv

(2) is the correct option.
