A wise man was once visited by a mother and son duo. The mother was utterly worried for her son was addicted to jaggery which had affected his health in many ways. The mother complained about the same to the wise man. After giving much thought, the wise man asked them to show up again after a week. The mother and son returned after a week, the man counselled the boy not to eat jaggery and have self-control. The mother was blank and frustrated, she gazed at the wise man and asked if they had waited for a week and returned for this. She wondered and asked that why didn't he said it the last time itself. Then, the man explained that he was himself addicted to jaggery till last week. He stopped eating jaggery first and then counselled the boy for the same. The man proved that he was undoubtedly wise and gave the message of 'Practice what you Preach'.

Answer:

Once, a mother and son visited a wise man. The son was very little. He was so active. The mother went to see the wise man for some valuable advice. The little boy saw a jaggery bowl on the table near the wise man. He took some jaggery and ate them. The mother complained to the wise man about her son's jaggery eating habits. She asked him to advise her son. But the wise man didn't ask or advise the son about this. The mother became sad. She left the place after some time with her son. She revisited the wise man after a week. That day too a jaggery bowl was kept on the table. Her son tried to take it. Then the wise man advised the son not to eat a lot of jaggery. It causes cavities and then leads to toothache. It can even lead to getting a tooth. The son listened to the wise man's words and obeyed him by not taking jaggery. The mother was happy and at the same time got angry. She asked the wise man, "Why did you advise him the same thing last time? " The wise man replied, "How can I advise your son to not eat jaggery, when I'm not trying to stop eating jaggery! After the things you said last week, I controlled myself and stopped jaggery eating. So, today I advised your son! " The moral of this story is one has to follow the rules before advising others to follow them. Doing a wrong thing by ourselves and advising others to not do it, makes no sense.
