A ball weighing 4kg of density 4000kg/m^3 is completely immersed in water of density 1000kg/m^3 . Find the apparent weight in water.(g =10 m/s^2)

volume of the body = m/D. ~{as, D=M/V}

THEREFORE, V= 4/4000 = 0.001Kg/m^3

now,

Fb = 0.001 * 1000* 10

hence, Fb= 10N

app. weight = W - Fb

【w= 4kgf

as 1 kgf = 9.8N

then 4kgf = ?

i.e, 4*9.8= 39.2N】

therefore,

App. weight = 39.2N - 10N

="38.2N"
