Answer:

2. A reaction in which one reactant undergoes oxidation whereas the other gets reduced during the course of reaction are termed as oxidation-reduction reactions or redox reactions. Oxidation refers to the loss of electrons or increase in oxidation state by a molecule, atom, or ion.

3. Precipitation reaction is also called as double displacement reaction. In this reaction, a precipitate is always formed. In this reaction, mutual exchange of ions takes place.

4. The chemical reaction in which a single reactant breaks down to form more than 1 product is called decomposition reaction. They are of 3 types-

(i) Electrolysis

(ii) Hydrolysis

(iii) Photolysis

5.During the decomposition of vegetables/ process of respiration, energy is released. Therefore, these reactions can be considered as exothermic reactions.

6.The process of reduction of food containing oil is called rancidity. Rancidity can be prevented by-

(i) keeping food in air tight containers

(ii) flushing chips packet with nitrogen

7.AgCl2 has to be stored in a dark glass in order to prevent it from getting decomposed. AgCl2 undergoes Photolytic Decomposition when left in sunlight.
