Question :

What is the number of water molecules contained in drop of water weighting 0.06g!

Answer :

Weight of water drop = 0.06

We have to find number of water molecules.

★ First of all we need to find moles of water.

Mole is defined as the ratio of weight of substance to the molecular weight.

Molar weight of water :

➝ 2(H) + 1(O)

➝ 2(1) + 1(16)

➝ 2 + 16

➝ 18 g/mol

Moles of water :

⭆ x = w/m

⭆ x = 0.06/18

x = 0.0033

We know that, one mole of substance contains 6.022 × 10²³ molecules.

➝ n = x × (6.022 × 10²³)

➝ n = 0.0033 × (6.022 × 10²³)

n ≈ 2 × 10²¹ molecules .
