I also had the same doubt.my annaiah solved the problem and sent me. this year I too wrote TS polycet. it can be solved using intersecting secants theorem. but here pt is a tangent so the formula converts into pt*pt =pa *pb. substitute pb = pa +ab. so by solving u get ab = 9cm.
