Given :- pair of equation as 3x+4y+2 =0 and 9x +12y+k = 0

∵ Equation of line = ax+by +c

∴ For line ,3x+4y +2 = 0

Assume , a₁ = 3 , a ₂ = 4 and c₁ = 2

similarly for line , 9x+12y +k

assume , a₂ = 9 , b₂ = 12 and c₂ = k

We know that , for coincident lines ,there will be infinite solution .

∵ [For infinite solution] , a₁/a₂ = b₁/b₂ = c₁/c

  • ∴ 3/9 = 12/4 = 2/k
  • 1/3 = 1/3 = 2/k
  • 1/3 = 2/k
  • k = 6 Answer
