Let the present age of Vijay be x.

Given that Sushma is now 15 years older than Vijay = x + 15  ---- (1)

Given that After 3 years she will be 8 times as old as Vijay was 3 years ago.

x + 15 + 3 = 8(x - 3)

x + 18 = 8x - 24

18 = 8x - 24 - x

18 = 7x - 24

7x = 42

x = 6

Therefore the present age of Vijay = 6 years.

Then the present age of Sushma = (6 + 15)

                                                         = 21 years.

Vijay age = ( x - 3 ) years

According to the problem given ,

18 + x = 8 ( x - 3 )

18 + x = 8x - 24

18 + 24 = 8x - x

42 = 7x

42/7 = x

6 = x

x = 6

Therefore ,

At present :

Vijay age = x = 6 years

Sushmita age = x + 15

= 6 + 15

= 21 years
