Question

A train 200 metres long and travelling at a speed of 60km/hr will cross a pole in ?

Given :

Speed of train 60km/h

Length if the train =200m

To Find :

Time ??

Solution

Explanation:

First we have to convert speed of train into m/s from km/h.

when we have to convert km/hr into m/s

\sf\bold{=> \dfrac{km}{hr}  =  \dfrac{1000 \times m}{3600 \times s}}

 \sf\bold{=  >  \dfrac{km}{h}  =  \dfrac{5}{18}  \times  \dfrac{m}{s}}

\sf\: Speed=\bigg(60 \times  \dfrac{5}{18}\bigg ) =  \dfrac{50}{3}

Speed is (50/3)m/s

Length of the train =\sf \bold{Speed \times Time}

 \sf=  > 200m =  \dfrac{50}{3} T

 =  > T = 200 \times  \dfrac{3}{50}  = 4 \times 3 = 12

\thereforeTime is 12 seconds.
