Conditions: (i) The rulers cannot form any alliances with other kingdoms.

(ii) The rulers had to fund the entire cost of the stationed army.

(b)(i) The British were able to intervene in the internal and political issues of the mwmber kingdom.

(ii) They did not have to suffer any costs to manage the army.

(iii) They will get a stronghold ovsr that area.

(iv) They can suppress the weak kings and take rule of that kingdom.

(c) (i) Due to the subsidiary alliance system, the Indian kings lost their sovereignity.

(ii) The British used to interfere with the internal politics of that kingdom.

(iii) The Doctrine of Lapse granted the British to take over that kingdom,like, Jhansi.

(iv) Indian kings lost their kingdoms based on reasons like unstable rule, like, in Awadh, the British took over the kingdom stating the reason that the lage no. of possible successors (sons) of the king may cause political turmoil in that kingdom.
