A car moving along a straight way with speed of 120km/h is brought to rest at a shop with distance of 200 meters how long does it take the car to stop​.

first ,

initial velocity u = 120 km/h

so lets convert it into m/s

i.e. 120*1000/3600

  = 100/3 m/s

now the car is going to be stop so

final velocity v =0

In this case acceleration is constant

hence v = u + at

    0 = 100/3 + at

 at = - 100/3              ----[1]

now put this value in the formula of distance

distance = ut +1/2 at^2

      200 = [-100/3] t +1/2 at*t

      200 = [-100/3] t +1/2 [-100/3] t                    from equation [1]

      200 = [-100/3] t (1+1/2)              [-100/3] t is common

      200*3/ 100 t = 3/2

       t = 4 sec
