let the speeds be x kmph and y kmph

distance = 100 k m

when they are going in same direction

relative speed will get subtracted so speed = x-y

s=d/t

x-y = 100/5

x-y=20

when going opposite direction

relative speed will add = x+y

x+y = 100/1

x+y=100

solving 2 equations x-y=20 and x+y=100

x=20+y putting in 2nd equation

20+y+y=100

2y=80

y = 40 kmph

putting in equation 1

x - 40 = 100

x = 60kmph
