question is    The Resistance of a 2m wire is 16 ohm , it is broken into two pieces of 1m . Calculate the resistance when those pieces are joined in Parallel .

answer is 4

we know

1).     resistance of a wire is directly proportional to its length

2).   if it is cut into two pieces of 1 m each would have a  resistance of 8 m

3).    Resistance in Parallel is                                                           ( Sum of inverse of each resistance ) whole inverse

4).    Therefore  total resistance

=  1/[1/8   +   1/8   ] =   1/(2/8)

                         =  8/2 = 4

so we would get resistance in parallel as 4
