I have seen many walkers, runners, joggers and bicyclists practicing potentially dangerous actions being on the wrong side of the road. Runners, walkers and joggers should always be on the left side of the road facing oncoming traffic.

Being on the right side with traffic at your back is dangerous because you cannot see traffic coming and cannot get out of the way if it is close to you.

It may not be possible for cars to move to the left due to traffic in the lanes to their left. When it is dark, you should wear or carry something reflective so motorists can see you.

Practicing these simple rules will assure your safety. Parents, tell your children to abide by these and set examples by practicing them yourself.

The rule of the road for bicyclists is to always ride on the right side of the road — the same way that cars are traveling. Ride to the side of the road and abide by the same rules that cars follow — stopping for all stop signs and red traffic lights.

When you make a turn, give a hand signal — arm up for right turn, arm straight out for left turn, and arm down for slowing or stopping.

An excellent safety item for a bicycle is a rear view mirror so you can see traffic behind you and move safely to the side of the road. You should have reflectors on your bike and clothing if you ride at night. A light and rear reflector will help motorist see you better.

Adults and kids should always wear a helmet. Riding without a helmet is very dangerous and can lead to serious head injuries, including death, if you fall on your head.

Several bike riders in the past year have suffered serious head injuries in bike accidents because they were not wearing a helmet.

Parents, make sure your kids always wear a helmet. Adults should also wear a helmet for their own safety and to set an example for their kids. If you are towing a child in a trailer, make sure that the kids are wearing a helmet on and are strapped in to prevent serious or fatal injuries if an accident causes the trailer to turn over.

Motorists, be aware of bicyclists, runners and walkers. When you come upon them, slow down and move to the left and safely go around them. Do not honk or yell at them. This could startle the person and lead to an accident.

If everyone follows these simple safety rules, all can be assured of preventing accidents and injuries.
Hope it helps u dear

Answer:

Every day, hundreds of road traffic accidents occur across the country. In fact, statistics show that there are more than 10 motor vehicle-related deaths per day in California alone, many of which are preventable. Significant percentage of the motorists are underinsured or no auto insurance or commercial truck insurance at all.

Road accidents occur for a variety of reasons. Often, drivers are distracted while behind the wheel, taking their focus away from the road. In other cases, drivers can become tired after spending multiple hours at the wheel, resulting in preventable errors.

Sometimes, accidents occur for a combination of reasons, from bad visibility to unsafe road design, or other drivers lack caution. While the causes of accidents can vary, the consequences are often the same, resulting in everything from vehicular and property damage to serious injuries.

Below, we’ve listed five of the most common reasons for road accidents in the United States, both for cars and commercial vehicles.
