Answer:

Given :

D ( number of bottles ) = - 2000 p² + 2000 p + 17000

D = 5000 [ Given in the question ]

⇒ 5000 = - 2000 p² + 2000 p + 17000

⇒ - 2000 p² + 2000 p + 17000 - 5000 = 0

⇒ - 2000 p² + 2000 p + 12000 = 0

⇒ 2000 p² - 2000 p - 12000 = 0

∵ Dividing both sides by 2000 we get :

⇒ p² - p - 6 = 0

⇒ p² - 3 p + 2 p - 6 = 0

⇒ p ( p - 3 ) + 2 ( p - 3 ) = 0

⇒ ( p + 2 )( p - 3 ) = 0

Since number of bottles cannot be negative , the correct answer is p = 3 and hence the correct answer is OPTION A .

Step-by-step explanation:

This one is similar to a quadratic equation . The number of bottles is denoted by the variable D and the cost is denoted by the variable p .

D has to be taken 5000 so that the inventory becomes 0 .

Quadratic equations are solved by splitting the middle terms . Then we take commons and by the zero product rule which states that when a b = 0 either a or b = 0 , we can calculate the value of p .

hi sis......

________SOLUTION______

Stock in the store is 5000 bottles.

If the inventory be zero, the demand has to be 5000 bottles.

To know the price for zero inventory, we have to plug D = 5000 in the quadratic equation D = -2000p2 + 2000p + 17000

5000 = -2000p² + 2000p + 17000

2000p² - 2000p - 12000 = 0

÷ BOTH SIDES BY 2000.

p² - p - 6 = 0

(p - 3)(p + 2) = 0

p - 3 = 0 or p + 2 = 0

p = 3 or p = -2

p = -2 can not be accepted. Bcoz, price can't be -ve

Hence, price per bottle that will result zero inventory is ₹3.

hope it helps.....sis.
