(a) Normal blood cell sequence:

Val  His  Leu  Thr  Pro  Glu  Glu

Glu = GAG

Val = GUG

In a blood cell with sickle cell anaemia, the Glu (GAG) in 6th position is changed to (GUG) Val. Hence, given sequence is a normal blood cell sequence.

(b) This is called a Mendelian disorder as these abnormalities are normally cause by mutation in a single gene. These diseases typically follow Mendel's inheritance patterns.
