Sodium (Na) = 11
So to get octet configuration
☆ Sulphur need to gain 2 electrons and
☆ Sodium should lose 1 electron
Thus 2 sodium atoms are needed to form a bond with sulphur
☆ So the compound is Na2S
(Or)
The simpler way is by doing criss-cross method
valency of S = 2
valency of Na = 1
by criss-cross
Na2S is formed
