( x³ + 1/x³ ) = ( x + 1/x )³ - 3 ( x + 1/x )

( x + 1/x )³ - 3 ( x + 1/x ) = 110

put ( x + 1/x ) = z

z³ - 3z - 110 = 0

( z - 5 ) × ( z² + 5z + 22 ) = 0

z = 5

OR

( z² + 5z + 22 ) = 0

z = (-5 ±√{25 - 88} )/2

z = ( -5 ±√{ -63} ) /2

z = ( -5 ±i√63 ) /2

Where i is iota i = √-1

So,

( x + 1/x ) = 5

OR

( x + 1/x ) = { -5 ±i√63 }/2
