as there is no net force acting on the bodies....so momentum will be conserved...

=> 40(40) - 60(30) = - 40(25) + 60(x)

momentum is a vector quantity so be careful while applying signs....

=> speed of the other body = 13.3 m/s ...opposite to that of first one..

hope it helps....

Answer:

velocity of 2nd body after collision=40m/s^2

Explanation:

conservation of momentum

let the velocity of 2nd body after collision=x

m1u1+m2u2=m1v1 +m2v2

40*40+60*30=40*25+60*x

1600+1800=1000+60*x

3400-1000=60*x

2400/60=x

40=x
