Answer:

let the age of father=x years

daughter age=70-x years

after 10 years daughter age=x+10

father age=10+70-x=80-x

equation becomes

x+10=2 (80-x)

x+10=160-2x

x+2x=160-10

3x=150

x=150/3=50

daughter age=70-50=20 years

father age=50 years

Let father's age=x

Daughter's age=y

According to statement,

x+y=70 -(1)

After 10 years,

x+10=2(y+10)

x+10=2y+20 -(2)

From (1),

x=70-y

Substitute this value of x in (2)

(70-y)+10=2y+20

70-y+10=2y+20

80-y=2y+20

-y-2y=20-80

-3y=-60

3y=60

y=60/3

[y=20] -(age of daughter)

Now, use value of y in (1)

x+20=70

x=70-20

[x=50]

Therefore, age of father (x)= 50 years

age of daughter (y)= 20 years
