\sf\huge\bold{Answer:}

\fbox{part 1}

1. Mining activities are well developed in plateaus because it is rich in mineral deposits.

Minerals like Mica, Bauxite, Copper, Limestone, Iron ore and coal are found here.

⇒The Damodar valley is rich with coal deposits and it is considered as the prime center of coking coal in the country.

⇒Massive coal deposits are found in the central basin. The important coalfields in the basin are Jharia, Raniganj, West Bokaro, East Bokaro, and Ramgarh.

2. The northern plains of India are densely populated because of the following reasons:

the soils are very fertile and fertile soils provide a good place for cultivating crops.

⇒the plains are surrounded by rivers and rivers are quite useful in providing water facilities.

The transportation is also easy in plains

\fbox{part 2}

1. The plateau bordering mountain ranges (generally fold mountain) or partly or fully enclosed within them are the intermontane plateau.

2. Lava plateaus are landforms created by volcanic activity. When shield volcanoes erupt, magma flows from the Earth's mantle through fissures in the crust. These flows, which are primarily made up of basalt, harden into layers or 'flows,' which build up over time to create the lava plateau.

3. Structural plains are the plains that are formed due to the uplifting or the subsidence of a piece of land.

\fbox{part 3}

1. Plain vs Plateau

  • The difference between plain and plateau lies in the geographical position of each.
  • A plain is formed on a lower level, unlike a plateau that is formed on a higher level from the ground.

2. Erosional vs Depositional

  • An erosional plain is a feature that has been flattened by movement of soil and rock away from a higher feature.
  • A depositional plain is one that is made smooth because of soil and rocks and other types of debris that are deposited on top of another surface

\fbox{part 4}

1.

⇒Continental plateaus are formed due to the deposition of thick covers of basaltic lava.

⇒Plateaus are important because of the following reasons:

  • Plateaus are storehouses of minerals.
  • They have rich deposits of minerals.
  • While the African Plateau has huge reserves of gold and silver, Chota Nagpur Plateau in India is famous for coal, iron and manganese deposits.

2.

⇒An alluvial plain is a large flat landform that is created from the deposition of sediment or debris over a long period by rivers from the highlands.

Sediments are brought about by weathering and erosion then water and wind transport the debris along.

Once the deposited sediments increase, they form alluvial soil.

⇒Alluvial plains are important because they are :

  • rich in organic matter and nutrients
  • provided fertile soils for agriculture.
  • Alluvial soils have been the sites of the earliest agriculture.

⇒Loess is a sedimentary deposit composed largely of silt-size grains that are loosely cemented by calcium carbonate. It is usually homogeneous and highly porous and is traversed by vertical capillaries that permit the sediment to fracture and form vertical bluffs.
