Hey there,

Mg+Cl₂-->MgCl₂

In this reaction-
Oxidation state of Mg in reactant and product stage is 0 and +2 respectively.
Hence Mg is getting oxidized.

Oxidation state of Cl in reactant and product stage is 0 and -1 respectively.
Hence Cl is getting reduced.

Element which gets reduced is oxidising agent and element which get oxidised is reducing agent.

Hence, we can say that CHLORINE is oxidising agent since it is getting reduced.

PLEASE MARK AS BRAINLIEST IF HELPFUL!!!
