Case1... if R is increased then the current in the circuit will decrease. Due to decrease in current the potential gradient across the wire will also decrease. By the relation V = l.k or l = V/k

on decrease in value of k or potential gradient the length of AX will increase or the balance point will shift towards B.

Case2... there will be no effect of value of S on balance point. The current through the resistance S is 0 at balance point hence it will not change the null point position.

Case3... on decreasing value of P the Potential though the wire will decrease and hence by the relation V = l.k or l = V/k

when potential of wire is decreased the length of segment AX will also decrease or the null point will shift towards A. Or when it made lower than Q the point will not be gained on wire.
