Answer:
hey mate here is your answer
Explanation:
In August 2019, the western coast of India was lashed by heavy rains, with the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala bearing the brunt of the downpour. The state of Karnataka, in particular, endured severe damage and destruction in terms of property as well as life. As of August 14, 2019, close to 7 lakh people in the state were displaced, 14 remained missing, while 61 lost their lives.
Excess rainfall within just a few days was the primary factor to cause and intensify floods, while water discharge from the neighbouring state of Maharashtra also aggravated the flooding woes for Karnataka. North Karnataka districts of Belagavi, Bijapur, Raichur, Kalburgi, Yadgir and Uttara Kannada were severely affected by the excess flood discharge released from Maharashtra’s Koyna reservoir.
Moreover, many districts along the Western Ghats, including Shivamogga, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu and Chikkamagaluru were also severely affected. Apart from the inundation, heavy rains also caused landslides in several parts of the state. Critical infrastructure such as roads, tanks, pipelines and schools got extensively damaged, while connectivity on major roads was also disrupted. Farmers experienced huge losses of property and crops as well.
Overall, the property damage caused by the floods across the state is estimated to be around ₹35,160.81 crore.
