Answer:

Area of rhombus is 240cm^2.

Step-by-step explanation:

GIVEN :-

PQ = 17cm

Diagonal PR = 16 cm

PO = 8 cm

FIND :-

QO = ???

POQ is a right angled triangle.

Then,

By the Pythagoras theorem ---

(QO)^2 = (PQ)^2 - (PO)^2

(QO)^2 = 17^2 - 8cm^2

(QO)^2 = 289 - 64

(QO)^2 = 225

QO = 15

SO = QO = 15cm ( diagonal of rhombus bisect equal at the right angles)

therefore, diagonal SQ = QO+SO

= 15 + 15 cm

= 30 cm

Area of rhombus = 1/2 × (product of diagonals)

= 1/2 × ( 30×16) cm^2

= 1/2 ×480 cm^2

= 240 cm^2
