12400/wavelength in A= 12400/970=12.77 eV

Now energy difference between first two shells of H atom is:

i.e. -13.6Z^2/dn^2=-13.6(1/4–1)=10.2 eV

Or you could also use the formula: n(n-1)/2 where n=2.
