Step-by-step explanation:

What they are trying to say is: if 1/3 of a number exceeds 2/7 of the same number by one, find the number.

Solution:

(1/3)x = (2/7)x + 1

(1/3 - 2/7)x = 1

(7 - 6)x/21 = 1

x/21 = 1

x = 21

Explanation:

1/3 of 21 is 7, which exceeds 2/7 of 21 (that is 6) by one

Question :-

  • if (1/3) od a number exceeds its (2/7) by 1, find the number ?

Solution :-

Let us Assume That, the Required Number is X.

Than,

(1/3) of x = (x/3).

→ (2/7) of x = (2x/7) .

A/q,

(x/3) - (2x/7) = 1

Taking LCM

[7x - 6x] / 21 = 1

Cross - Multiply,

x = 21

Hence, The Required Number is 21.

___________

Verification :-

=> (1/3) of 21 = 21 * (1/3) = 7

=> (2/7) of 21 = 21 * (2/7) = 6

=> Difference = 7 - 6 = 1 .

Hence, Our Answer is Correct.
