So, first 30 km covered by an object with speed of 60 km/h

Next 30 km with speed of 40 km/h

As we know that speed = distance / time

60 = 30 / t1

t1 = 30/60 or 0.5 h

40 = 30 / t2

t2 = 30/40 or 0.75 h

Answer (i) = total time = 0.75 h + 0.5 h = 1.25 hrs

Average speed = Total distance / total time

= ( 30 + 30 ) km / ( 1.25 ) h

= 60 / 125 × 100

= 60 / 25 × 20 = 60 / 5 × 4 = 12*4 = 48 km/h

Hope it helps
