Que 2. Who do you think is the speaker-an older or a younger person?

Ans The speaker is a younger person because normally children don't like staying indoors , wearing woollen clothes during winter.Spring means that they are free to run & play.

Que 3. The speaker knows what season it is by noticing the signs around him/her.

Name five such signs.

Ans There are buzzing black bees, dew on the rose, a rabbit has come out of its hiding place, the freshwater eels appear and there are buds and flowers and doves on the trees.

Que 1. Why does the speaker say she is racing through the meadows without a coat?

What does it signify?

Ans The speaker can step out of the without a coat. This means that winter is finally over and it is Spring.

Que 2.The word I'm is a refrain (a word that gets repeated) in the poem. It is used in two ways.

Describe them. What do you think is the effect is this repetition?

Ans At the starting of the poem, the speaker uses the word " I'm " to personify (personification -> occurs when a thing is represented as a person) things like the sun, moon, dew rabbit and so on.Then she uses the words to convey her feelings and actions when she says " I'm lovely I'm racing " and so on.she then switches the use of the words to personify a lamb,a goat,a bud,and so on. when the poem is read aloud in rhythm , this wage gives us a sense of movement , similar to stopping by to admire nature and running in joy .

Ans The word racing through the meadows or running on the rooftops show freedom, happiness and lightness. These feelings convey the joy of spring season after a dull ,heavy winter.
