The condition for two vectors being parallel is that either of the vectors should be expressed as 'x' times the other vector where x is a real number.

Take any vector. A or B.

Let's say A.

A= xB

i - 5j = x (2i - 10j)

i - 5j = 2xi - 10xj

Compare the coefficients of the i and j terms.

It's pretty clear that x = 0.5.

If in case you get different values of x for i and j components, then the vectors are non-parallel
