Compound X is Antimony Trichloride (SbCl3)  and compound Y is Antimony Trisulphide (Sb2S3).

- Antimony oxide dissolves in HCl to  form the compound X, i.,e., Antimony trichloride according to the following reaction:

Sb2O3 + 6HCl → 2SbCl3 + 3H2O

- This compound X (Antimony trichloride) gives an orange precipitate Y, i.e., Antimony Trisulphide with H2S  according to the following reaction:

2SbCl3 + 3H2S → Sb2S3 + 6HCl
